- 1. WHAT DOES AFUE MEAN?
A: Annual fuel utilization efficiency is the season-long average efficiency of a piece of heating equipment.
- 2. WHAT DOES SEER MEAN?
A: Seasonal energy efficiency ratio is the comparative method used to judge how efficiently an air conditioning unit performs. The higher the SEER value, the more efficient the unit. A state requirement in 2006 states all units must have a minimum SEER of 13.
- 3. DO YOU CARRY LIABILITY COVERAGE?
A: Rockford Mutual Insurance fully insures us for Workman's Comp. & Liability.
- 4. SHOULD I HAVE MY HEATING AND COOLING UNITS SERVICED YEARLY?
A: Yes. Preventative maintenance is essential. Units will operate much more efficiently when properly serviced.
- 5. HOW LONG HAS KARSTEN HEATING & COOLING BEEN IN BUSINESS?
A: Karsten Heating & Cooling was established in 1961 by Samuel Karsten, Jeff's father. Jeff has been involved in the business for over 40 years.
- 6. WHAT IS THE MOST ECONOMICAL HEATING SOURCE?
A: New gas furnaces have AFUE ratings of 80-95%. The higher the AFUE, the more efficient the unit.
- 7. DO YOU INSTALL HOT WATER HEATING SYSTEMS?
A: Triangle Tube and Burnham Boilers. We find these units to be the most reliable.
- 8. DO YOU INSTALL HUMIDIFIERS?
A: We install Aprilaire and service most brands.
- 9. DO YOU SERVICE ANY OTHER BRANDS?
A: We service many brands of furnaces, boilers, and air conditioning units.
- 10. DO YOU INSTALL AIR PURIFIERS?
A: Yes, we install Honeywell air purifiers.
- 11. IS R-22 COOLANT STILL AVAILABLE?
A: R-22 refrigerant is still available, but it may become unattainable in the future. R-410A is environmentally safe for our ozone layer.
